Research Summary
GHK-Cu is a tripeptide-copper complex first isolated from human plasma albumin in 1973. Plasma concentrations decline with age (from ~200 ng/mL in young adults), which has prompted research into its potential role in age-related tissue changes.
Preclinical studies have observed apparent upregulation of collagen I, collagen III, and elastin gene expression in human fibroblast cultures. A 2015 review in Biomolecules examined over 50 preclinical studies, noting consistent observations of apparent wound healing acceleration and anti-inflammatory effects.
